The Qualitative Value of a Pattern, 02/24/08
I'm about six months into a risk/reward forecasting project for the SP. On Friday, my chess coach was talking about 'the quality of the pieces' and that evaluating a chess position meant evaluating the quality of the pieces along w/ the quantity of the pieces (and everything else.) In the system builders world the same chess evaluation applies: quantitative patterns have a qualitative value and the pattern user/system builder's understanding of the qualitative value of the patterns is what determines their true edge and potential. |
